Emma Cox

Emma Cox Emma grew up in coastal California and is now a staff biologist for the Institute for Bird Populations. Having worked in various ecosystems around California, the country, and the world, her field work is currently focused on the effects of meadow restoration projects in the Sierra Nevada on avian communities. The best parts of her job are training point count crews in bird sound identification and working with other bird nerds. She loves sharing her enthusiasm for bird communities and birding with anybody who can point at a shrub-ensconced blob and whisper-scream "I think I see it!" and therefore delights in the crowd that is attracted to birding festivals. Her favorite question is "Wait, what's that sound?!"
