Debbie Jo Bird
Debbie Jo has been madly in love with nature and the outdoors her entire life. She graduated from UCSB with a degree in Botany. She spent time living in a lean-to working as a botanist in Vermont, and eventually moved to Oregon where she planted trees with the largest working cooperative in the country. Moved back to California, worked on a couple of peregrine hack sites in the Sierra mountains. While living in Mammoth Lakes she decided to go back to school to be a nurse, worked in ICU or 5 years before attending UCDavis. She worked 21 years as a FNP/ PA-C while living in the Sierra foothills. She now lives in Morro Bay and is an avid birder, enjoys botany, tidepools, foraging wild edibles and medicines, swimming and nature journaling.
