327 White Point Fog Lichens
Join lichen enthusiast Michael Mulroy for a fascinating exploration of the unique maritime lichens at Morro Bay’s White Point. During the walk, you’ll learn about the charismatic fog lichens, their important ecological roles in coastal habitats, and how to identify several common—and perhaps one or two locally rare—lichen species. The walk involves a short but steep and uneven ascent to the top of White Point Vista, the overlook near the Natural History Museum. This may be challenging for some, so please consider this when registering. Restroom facilities are available. Meets at the Museum of Natural History, 20 State Park Rd, Morro Bay.
