332 Master Class - Pro Gull ID
master class
Gulls are intelligent, adaptable, and beautiful birds, members of a large, widespread family of seabirds. However, they're notoriously difficult to identify. Entire books focus on differentiating one gull from another. This one has a black head. This one has a yellow bill with a black ring. One has a light gray back, and another a medium gray back. How about the yellow bill with a red spot? Did you know many gulls look similar but have different color legs? After this master class, you will be able to spot some of the differences for yourself. Join local expert, Kaaren Perry, to learn the variation within species, in different seasons, and juvenile plumages through the years. Our study group for the workshop will be resident and wintering gull species of the Central Coast. Although variation in species is easy to overlook, this is a true master class in the subtle differences from one species to another. Part 2 of Kaaren's Pro Gull ID will take place on Sunday, 8am to 10am, Trip 410.
Lunch is bring your own. Box lunches available through registration. Meets at the Inn at Morro Bay, 60 State Park Road, Morro Bay. Alcove Room.
