Phylene Wiggins Phylene (pronounced fuh-LEEN) is a resident of Carpinteria where she began serving as a volunteer docent at Carpinteria State Beach in 2010. Born and raised on the Central Coast, Phylene has been birding for nearly 20 years and is a keen observer of the outdoor world. She enjoys sharing her love of the avian world with others and is passionate about environmental stewardship and conservation, the arts, and lifelong learning. Phylene has a broad background in philanthropy and has been involved with diverse community-based organizations in board, staff and volunteer roles, including the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Restorative Partners, Hospice of Santa Barbara and Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County.
