Terri May Terri May volunteered at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo for 9 years, where she headed the Raptor program in the Education Department. During this time, she trained both birds and docents, sparking her realization that she wanted to learn about all bird species.
During the isolation period of the Covid-19 pandemic, she focused on birding, paying particular attention to small bird species as she sought to expand her knowledge.
Her participation in the Seabird Survey at Estero State Park and Montano de Oro, an annual four-month project, allows her to apply and further develop her birding experience in the field. Additionally, her involvement in the Morro Bay Bird Festival provides an ideal opportunity for ongoing learning and community engagement.
For her, this journey of learning has been both enlightening and humbling, as she continuously discovers how much there is to know.
