Charlie DeBerry

Charlie DeBerry Charlie grew up on a farm in Missouri and moved to Southern California when he was a teenager. He now divides his time between homes in La Habra and Morro Bay. At his La Habra home he has an extensive garden, growing vegetables and fruits and he even grows his own coffee. He maintains many plants that act as bird and butterfly habitats. He builds blue bird houses and observes fledglings. He has a keen eye for observing his surroundings and can spot wildlife, including birds, before most of us are even looking. Retired after 40 years at Chevron in La Habra. While at Chevron he coordinated numerous volunteer projects, he has also participated in Corporate Combined Volunteer Projects, Yosemite Valley Restoration projects, PBS Fund Drives, Habitat for Humanity, Orange County Parks, Nature Conservancies, Orange County Girl Scout Council, La Habra Historical Museum, Modjeska Foundation, SLO Botanical Garden. And as a church volunteer he has taken three trips to help rebuild after Katrina hurricane and a trip to Tuscaloosa to rebuild after a tornado.
