Augie Hazel August Hazel began birding at age 5. He has been coming to the Morro Bay Bird Festival from Colorado for 11 years, only missing due to the COVID pandemic and the atmospheric rivers. He is an avid bird photographer and a long-running volunteer for the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, where he works at their banding stations. In addition to being a birder, he is a cellist in the Denver Young Artist Orchestra, a mountain bike racer and a senior at Lakewood High School.
