237 Elfin Forest Explorations: Nature Journaling in Coastal Chaparral
journaling
Immerse yourself in the enchanting Elfin Forest, a unique coastal chaparral habitat. In this session, you'll learn to observe and document the resilient plant and critter species that have adapted to this sandy, wind-swept environment. Through nature journaling, you'll explore how environmental factors shape this diverse ecosystem, focusing on techniques like drawing simple maps, recording observations with words, pictures, and numbers, and noting patterns in plant distribution. The session includes a journaling demo, a hands-on activity, and a group discussion to share insights and discoveries from the Elfin Forest.
Meets at the entrance on the north end of 16th Street from Santa Ysabel Avenue in the town of Los Osos. Parking at the street end is very limited, however you can park anywhere along 16th Street as long as you do not block driveways or mail boxes. You can even park on an adjacent street and walk the short distance to the 16th Street entrance. More detailed directions to the Elfin Forest are here. Parking info is here.
