269 Movie Night - Condor Canyon

Join us for a special screening of Condor Canyon, a true story about a California Condor living in Big Sur, who survives lead poisoning while her mate raises their chick and her return after treatment. "Traveler", tagged as Red 71, has struggled to lay normal eggs throughout her life due to the past use of the pesticide DDT found in the food she eats. Finally, successful, she and her mate, "Shadow" tagged as Yellow 9, were raising a chick together when she ingested lead from a carcass tainted with lead ammunition. Miraculously, both Traveler and the chick survive giving hope for the recovery of the species in the wild. This documentary was funded by Doris Day and Terry Melcher Foundation and premiered at the Carmel International Film Festival in October 24.
Following the movie, Kelly Sorenson, Film Producer and Executive Director of the Ventana Wildlife Society, will be will be sharing details and answering questions about the film and the Ventana Wildlife Society.
