Critter Cams for Monitoring Wildlife
Saturday, Jan 17
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Trip #361
Trip Details
Wildlife cameras, often called trail or game cameras, are cameras strategically placed on your property to take motion-triggered pictures and videos that document wildlife presence and activity, including your local avifauna, and detects both common or rarely seen and secretive wildlife species. There are fun and educational benefits to setting up a "camera trap" and later viewing the resultant "photo captures", as well as the benefits for wildlife monitoring projects across the globe that assist in rare and endangered species and other wildlife field research projects. This slide show talk is orientated for beginners and novices wanting to know more about the technology and what to consider in selecting different camera model options, choosing customized camera settings such as shooting time intervals and photo file sizes, and recommendations for onsite installation of your critter cams!
