These are man-made beds used to collect water discharged from the wastewater treatment plant. There are three main ponds. Bone Pond is the most western of the group and the closest to the beach. Gulls and other more typically ocean birds like to gather here and bathe. Snoopy Pond (named after its shape) is the middle pond that you first approach on the trail. This pond has an island in the middle and a narrow neck connecting the two bodies. Herons and egrets love to roost on the island. Lucy Pond is the farthest from the entrance.
