Forty-four states have completed Breeding Bird Atlases, globally recognized projects that guide conservation and strengthen biodiversity. California is not one of them. That's about to change. Join Van Pierszalowski to learn about the California Bird Atlas (CBA), a new nonprofit, is leading the first statewide Breeding Bird Atlas, launching January 1, 2026. Over five years, thousands of community scientists and professional field biologists will contribute observations through a new California-specific eBird Atlas Portal created with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The result will be the most comprehensive record of California's breeding birds ever established, a powerful baseline to guide conservation for decades to come.
Meets at the Vet's Hall, 209 Surf St, Morro Bay.
