268 Bats - A field study of California's amazing flying mammals
This field trip accompanies Event 251, Bats - California's amazing flying mammals, and is meant as a field portion to that event. We will learn a bit more about our local Central California bats as we wander in the gloaming. A magical moment is to watch the first bats of the evening illuminated against the sky as they forage in the dwindling light as evening sets in. We will do a walking transect acoustical survey of bats using a surface tablet with Sonobat software (https://sonobat.com/) and an ultrasonic microphone. At the end of the program, we will have a summary of the evening's bat activity. Meets at Sweet Springs, 660 Ramona Avenue, Baywood-Los Osos.
