This class is a scaled-down version of a college course on Bird Biology. Topics will be presented at an introductory level, and limited to those of greatest interest to visual artists (painters and photographers); essentially, what you're looking at when you observe birds or bird behavior. There will be two sessions: Part 1 will emphasize external appearances, and Part 2 will emphasize behaviors. Ornithological vocabulary will be introduced and used throughout. The basics of bird identification will also be presented. The class will be led by Jim Bland, a retired avian ecologist, former college lecturer on Ornithology, and experienced wildlife photographer. Meets at in the Conference Room at Sea Pines Golf Resort. 1945 Solano St, Los Osos.
