Los Osos Valley Garden Club presents “Gardening for the Birds: Return of the Natives” with John Chestnut. Mr. Chestnut will explore the habitat value of Dune Natives and share A Habitat Restoration Recipe for Success. Mr. Chesnut approaches habitat restoration by mixing fundamental ecological processes and food webs with the hands-on experience earned by decades of practice in habitat restoration throughout California. This presentation will highlight important plant-bird relationships in the dune ecosystem. Explore, as a case study, Morro Coast Audubon's coastal dune habitat restoration: a repeatable approach for bird habitat restoration at multiple scales!
Meets at 1900 Los Osos Valley Road, Cross Roads of Los Osos Valley Road and Lariat Drive. Drive to the back building of the church and park. Look for Los Osos Valley Garden Club signs as well as a greeter to direct you to the back building entrance. Complimentary coffee, tea & treats will be provided by the Los Osos Valley Gardening Club Hospitality Committee.
